Essay / Human Cloning - 776
Opponents of cloning believe that the cloning procedure has not been proven safe at all, while those who support cloning believe that human cloning could be used to solve human diseases and infertility. However, both sides can agree that human cloning can be useful in our new era. Human cloning has had successes and sometimes also failures. Proponents of human cloning can be divided into two arguments. The first argument is that cloning can help, using certain technologies, to reduce the rate of infertility by helping to produce genetic offspring. The final argument being that cloning could be an important process to combat genetic diseases. Although some of these arguments may fail, if they were to somehow succeed, there would be many reasons to pursue this argument (Melo 253). Opponents of human cloning could also be divided into two arguments. Also. The first argument could be that there could be psychological damage done to the clone. The last and final argument is that this could cause a lot of harm to society. Many argue that one could lose a person's individuality and uniqueness if they were cloned. Cloning could harm society by risking losing the establishment of a family or even no longer respecting the human body (Melo 248). The first argument put forward was to resolve infertility. Anyone who supports cloning would take sides by claiming that it could benefit infertile couples. A person who suffers from genetic diseases could have a child genetically linked to them. Cloning is increasingly becoming an obvious solution as infertility rates begin to rise. Arguing that human cloning should be accepted because it could solve many information problems...... middle of paper ...... through the clone (Melo 254). By finding common ground between the two, they both come to the point that in every argument there is always a failure in the world of cloning. Taking for granted these hypotheses proposed by supporters and opponents. These arguments cause many problems for those who support the technology and overlook the concept in which human cloning could be implemented. (Melo 263).When proponents of reducing infertility rates and combating genetic diseases are discussed, the opposing side also argues that cloning human beings could cause psychological damage to the clone, as well as damage to our society. But ultimately the arguments tend to cancel each other out, leading to many failures.Works CitedMelo‐Martín, De. "On the Cloning of Human Beings." Bioethics 16.3 (2002): 246-265. Internet.
