Essay / Conflict Management Application - 1029
Conflict management has always been an interesting topic in an organization. I was a Senior Security Analyst for a company called L&T in India. As a senior member, conflict management has been one of the most difficult aspects for me. At work, we were always firefighters and had the responsibility to resolve ongoing technical issues for our internal (software developers) and external (customers and partners) customers. Our team not only had to combat existing issues, but also focus on developing and improving ongoing security projects. This stressful atmosphere has led to an unwanted amount of conflict within our team that has had both positive and negative impacts on our unit. Through this article, I would like to discuss how conflict management was a challenge for me as a Senior Security Analyst, what steps I had taken to resolve it, and what I would have could do to improve it by learning from presentations and slides in class. having been there for 2 years, it was obvious that there was a lot of conflict within the team. There were obvious sources of conflict. My team of 25 members was divided into sub-teams with 5 members per sub-team. Teams were formed on the basis of seniority rather than expertise. This has led to differences in opinions, ideas and methodologies. The senior members had their opinions and ideas that were completely different from those of the newer, younger employees. These sub-teams were made up of completely different people from each other, leading to differentiation within the teams. Each sub-team had its own set of goals and commitments to the business. Their objectives were therefore incompatible with each other. The only common task for the subteams was to resolve complex conflicts in the middle of the paper (class 12 slides, conflicts and negotiation, slide 24). These are some of the methods and approaches I would have implemented in my workplace. As I stated at the beginning of this article, conflict management is an interesting topic to discuss. First, I discussed the sources of conflict in my organization and what my manager and I did to resolve them. We have succeeded to a large extent. After going through the lecture readings and slides, I realize that although the proposed solution was good, there are still better approaches to handling conflict. After understanding the concepts of conflict management through this course, I'm pretty sure I will implement a better solution if I find myself in a similar situation. Works cited Rothenberg, S.
