Essay / Essay on Social Injustice in China - 675
Social injustices against the Chinese people. Luke MantellOrdinary people in China are suffering under their government. From being wrongly accused to being executed for minor crimes. In a country where you can't express your opinions, speak ill of government officials, talk about the failures of Chinese communism, or even browse the internet freely. China has kept its citizens in limbo. One example is China's Great Firewall, which detects most social networks and other sites. This essay will focus on some individual stories of unjust social injustices from the Chinese government towards its people. My first statement is the story of a man named Liu Hai. He worked in a mine in China in very difficult conditions. When he collapsed at work. He was taken to hospital and died 72 hours later. It appeared to be a work accident, but that was not the case. Chinese law states that workplace accidents are only valid if the person dies after 48 hours. Liu Hai's wife was left with a bill for 40,000 yuan. She couldn't afford it, so she went to work on a landscaping project outside Qindao. She says: “I couldn't move the big stones, so I moved the small ones. I was tired of using the wheelbarrow to move dirt and was only filling it halfway. At night, my whole body hurt and the pain was so intense that I couldn't sleep. » “My daily expenses were less than four yuan. I would only buy the cheapest foods I could find. Sometimes, if I wanted meat, I would buy two chicken heads and cook them. » “After finishing the job, we moved to another job site where the contractor said we would be paid there. After working a total of... middle of paper... the problem is that most schools abuse this law and end up making kids do a lot of heavy work. Which is against Chinese law, but the government doesn't do a very good job of enforcing it. These children will therefore work 14 hours a day, live in a cardboard box, receive little food and water, for only 26 cents an hour! Incredibly, that’s less than four dollars a day. This is just another of the many social injustices within China's hidden walls. China is the story of a county that tried to contain its citizens from the outside world, tried to make people work for virtually no pay, implemented inhumane laws and other terrible acts. But the scary thing is that they got away with it. The government is too powerful to be questioned and it will remain so until people find out. This is the only way for China to become a fair and just country..
