It allows Lady Macbeth to have great influence over him and therefore allows fate to do the same. However, every decision he makes after hearing his prophecy is a choice of his free will. He may have been influenced by factors outside of him, but the decisions he makes are entirely his own. When he makes the decision to murder Duncan, it is entirely his decision. He was the one who sparked the idea of murder in his own head and he was the one who lived through it. Nowhere in his prophecy does it say that he would have to kill to obtain his crown. Macbeth also pursues his own idea of murder throughout the story (Lowe, 2005).
