  • Essay / Suggestions for Improving the City Accounting Department

As a general overview, this document will cover the challenges of the City of Menlo Park Accounting Department. The interest of this short essay or article lies in its interest in the impact of my future career goals and other personal projects. During my career as an accountant in the private sector, I have worked for many different companies. The hardships and usual economic instability of the private sector have put my career goals on hold and the merits based on hard work are often unrecognizable. Finding stable employment in a competitive private sector was difficult and unrewarding. Therefore, I looked to the public or government workplace to see if I could make my way there. At first, I was indifferent to the type of environment the public sector offered, but I quickly changed my perspective once I was offered a job working for the City of Menlo Park. During the process of writing this essay, I hope to be able to diagnose and identify problems that exist in my workplace. I seek to find the causes of the existing challenges we are currently experiencing. If I can find the root cause of the problems, I would like to make an effort to improve the working conditions in our department and perhaps it is contagious enough to affect other departments. I am very optimistic that this project can help me prepare an action plan to resolve some of the problems that exist in my work. I would really like to create a positive long-term outlook in the organization in which I hope to end my career. Looking for stability, I was fortunate to find employment in the City of Menlo Park as a Senior Accountant. In my opinion, I think government employment is more stable and the long term financial reward is better. However, I would like...... middle of paper......to explain his decision. This will create the transparency and openness necessary for decision-making. Employees don't have to agree with your decision, but at least they'll know the reasoning behind it. In conclusion, a clear vision must be communicated by the leader of an organization. Leadership can be at any level in the organization.ReferencesEmployee turnover. (2008). AgriMarketing, 46(8), 16.
