  • Essay / Why People Don't Change Essay - 1252

Some people will not change throughout their life. It's comfortable to do what you've always done, and change takes strength and commitment to not fall back into old habits. If you fail to find this strength and commitment, you will begin to fall back into your old ways of behaving, thinking, and believing, and soon nothing will have changed at all. And even though you'll feel comfortable in your own habits, you'll kind of wish you'd followed through. People don't change easily This is a much truer statement than simply "people don't change." Research has shown that change is not easy, so it is important to know that change does not always happen quickly. Yes, you can set a goal to change certain things about yourself, but to get there you may have to take a few steps backwards and even sideways before you eventually reach your goal. The more difficult the change, the more real it can be. If your commitment to change is high, a few failures here and there will not result in your permanent defeat. In fact, they can be seen as small failures, which are really just lessons that help you understand what NOT to do next time so that your chances of successful change are great.
