The United States, as a result of this great real estate venture, changed the economy, politics and morals of this soon to be great nation. One of the biggest gains for the economy was the doubling of the land area obtained in the purchase. This achievement supports Jefferson's idea of a democratic and republican society. This gave us firm control over the Mississippi River, an important transportation route for shipping goods to other parts of the country. We have gotten the addition of 13 states with such land, there are more natural resources that can be found and more land that people can move to have farms of their own....
