Essay / Maximum Learning Experience - 1021
Why do some teachers fail to provide the maximum learning experience for their students? I came up with three different concepts on how I can help my students achieve a maximum learning experience in the classroom. One of the reasons teachers cannot provide the maximum learning experience for their students is because they do not take the time to explore their students' preferred learning style. Some teachers rely heavily on only one teaching style, thereby closing the doors to students who cannot fully learn a specific teaching style used by the teachers. Another reason why teachers fail is that they do not create positive emotions in the classroom. When students feel uncomfortable in class, it is very difficult for them to learn. Finally, teachers should encourage cooperative learning, which creates a positive relationship between students and promotes group success. To successfully provide a maximum learning experience for students, teachers must generate positive emotions in the classroom, become familiar with students' learning styles, and promote cooperative learning in the classroom. One way to support my students in the classroom is to become familiar with their learning styles. Not all students learn the same way in the classroom. By knowing and familiarizing myself with students' learning styles, I would know how to deliver my classes and lectures based on each student's learning styles. In class, we discussed VAKT (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile) learning modalities that filter how students learn best and how they can connect new information to old information (Greczi, 2014). By implementing different lessons that adapt to each student's preferred learning styles, I realize...... middle of paper ......e amount of learning by helping each other through the cooperative learning. Additionally, cooperative learning helps students deal with criticism and critique other students' ideas (Greczi, 2014). In my own experience, I have met people who have difficulty dealing with criticism from others. As a teacher, I am responsible for creating a learning environment in which each student can courageously face criticism from other students while providing criticism to others. Because cooperative learning develops the skills discussed previously, I believe my students would benefit from my course if they learned to properly handle and appreciate criticism. In summary, cooperative learning is a way I help my students develop their interpersonal skills and build relationships with each other. Works Cited Brain-Based Learning Theory Book by Eric Jensen
