    One of the most controversial topics in the United States in recent years has been the path forward to restructuring the health care system for the millions of Americans who are currently uninsured. . It is important to note that the goal of the Affordable Care Act is to make health care affordable; it offers low-cost, government-subsidized insurance options through the National Health Insurance Marketplace (Amadeo 1). Our current president, Barack Obama, made it his goal to bring health care to all Americans through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. This plan, called "Obamacare," made the subject of intense scrutiny from many Americans, but also received significant support in turn for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include reduced insurance discrimination on the basis of health or gender and affordable health care coverage for the millions of uninsured people. Opposition to the law cited increasing costs and accumulating debt, a reduction in employer health coverage options, and penalizing those who already use private health insurance. For starters, one of the frequently cited reasons for Obamacare is a reduction in health care and gender discrimination from insurance companies. Changes requiring all Americans to have affordable coverage, as well as changes in how insurers can set premiums, will allow people with health conditions and disabilities, as well as women who need pregnancy care, to benefit from health insurance without having to be potentially in danger. are denied coverage or are forced to pay a much higher price than average (The Pros and Cons of ObamaCare 1).
