Essay / Life in Utopia: Monotonous Life Against Pleasure life based on pleasure, based on happiness and happiness only. : “In fact, they do everything they can to make people have fun. »²⁹, “Here they seem a little too inclined to adopt a hedonistic view, because according to them human happiness consists largely or entirely in pleasure. »³⁰This hedonism is not rooted in the pure and simple pleasure of amusement and personal entertainment. There are higher pleasures that must be sought, for that is what God would have them do. On the one hand, they must strive for the well-being of others due to their utilitarian ethics, which is considered one of those great pleasures. However, utopians, in contradiction to their own non-individualistic system, also seek pleasure for themselves, which is an astonishing aspect of their understanding since they have almost no concept of self, as noted above. They, being extremely gifted at finding excuses, have very good reasons to do so: "...nothing more human, nor more natural for a human being, than to relieve the suffering of others... So why wouldn't it be just as natural? do the same for yourself? Either it is a bad thing to enjoy life,…or, if it is good for others,…why should charity not begin at home? »³¹, “If nature says you must be kind to others, it cannot turn around the next moment and say you must be cruel to yourself. disregarding their own beauty…unless they do it for the benefit of others or society, in the hope of receiving greater pleasure from God in return. »³³The hypocrisy that arises from the boring lifestyle of utopians stuck between their already planned lives and their perceptions of utility maximization are confronted when it comes to fulfilling their duties to the other "particles" of society, despite their reluctance. If a man is so ill that there is no hope of recovery, for example, the utopians ask him to be euthanized, which is practically saying that they do not want to take care of him, he does not is no longer welcome and he should die.
