IntroductionSocial media has quickly made its way into American culture and is more prevalent than ever. Many people have different views on the relevance and benefits of social media, whether positive or negative. Nonetheless, social media and networking are part of our entire American way of life. As a computer information systems specialist studying the foundations and composition of computer applications, I would like to study the effects that social media has on undergraduate students attending a historically black college or university. In order to conduct this research, a study and survey should be conducted to determine whether social media positively or negatively affects grade point averages by recording the number of social media that students actively use and the number of hours spent on these applications per relation to the note. point averages. This research is important because many people are unaware of the effects of their social networks, or lack thereof, on their grades, sleep habits, health, and overall lifestyle. Although this research focuses on students' grade point averages, it will also determine whether social media has effects on other aspects of college life, such as sleep habits, health, and consciousness. Purpose of the Study Individuals must understand that the use or non-use of social media has negative and positive effects on their lives, whether they recognize them or not. Students who excessively use social media apps may be negatively affected because they spend too much time on these apps rather than paying attention to them in class, doing homework, studying, studying, reading materials . which networks students are actively using and the number of hours spent on these applications compared to cumulative averages.
