Space exploration and many other technological discoveries have been made using mathematics.a) Mathematics-based tools used by NASA• GPS o A global positioning system consisting of 24 satellites put into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense o GPS does not send data to the transmitters that actually receive it o Once the data is received, the mathematics does the rest to provide a precise location. • Image Digitization and Coding o Defined as the process of transferring information into a digital format. o Information is organized into distinct units of data called bits. o Bits are also stored in groups called bytes. o Digital devices with computing capability, such as a digital camera or television, process this information and are able to convert it. o NASA uses digitalization to get a clearer view of space, planets and the moon.
