  • Essay / V for Vendetta - 1518

There are many different dystopian science fiction films. Dystopian science fiction usually focuses on the current problem in that society and attempts to call the audience to action. V for Vendetta is no different from other dystopian science fiction. V for Vendetta (adapted from a comic book series of the same name written by Alan Moore) is a 2005 dystopian science fiction film with an appropriate amount of action. this film was directed by James McTeigue and the screenplay written by Andy and Lana Wachowski also known as The Wachowski Brothers (all known for their work on The Matrix series). The film's budget was approximately $54,000,000 and the film grossed approximately $132,511,035 worldwide. The film is set in the late 2020s in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is run by a fascist government led by the High Chancellor who attempts to "protect" the population by constantly surveilling citizens and getting rid of unwanted people (homosexuals, Muslims, political opponents and terrorists) by locking people up or by executing them. The film centers on V (played by Hugo Weaving), a man under a Guy Fawkes mask who attempts to overthrow the fascist government using terrorist tactics, and Evey (played by Natalie Portman), a woman whom V saves and eventually becomes her ally. . They work together to overthrow the oppressive government, one person at a time, and try to show the British people that what the government is doing to them is wrong. This movie is phenomenal and it would be perfect for college aged people, between 18 and 22 years old, as it features intense action scenes, an unusual romance between V and Evey and a message that makes the audience think even after having finished. the movie. College age...... middle of paper...... I also love the unusual romance between V and Evey. Evey wants to love the man behind the mask, but V doesn't believe it's really him. This contradiction leads Evey to leave V and V becomes very upset. The important thing is that the audience leaves the film with a message. This message is that you must take action against oppression and if you don't, it's your fault that you lose your freedom, your privacy and your freedom. Some people think the soft side of the V makes it less big. This isn't true because it makes him bigger by showing the audience that he's a normal human being with emotions, and the audience connects to V on a deeper level. It's an excellent film with a strong message. Even though this movie is a century old, it still shows what needs to be changed. Change is sometimes necessary for a society to flourish and become a better place.
