Thus, it is essential that graduates understand and have the ability to deal with the various environmental challenges that we face today. For university students, most of their knowledge about sustainability comes from lectures. While Winter and Cotton (2012) illustrate that learning only about sustainability is insufficient and that sustainability knowledge must take into account students' attitudes and dispositions in order to develop their reasoned decision-making strategies. Furthermore, Winter and Cotton (2012) highlight that limitations posed by academic attitudes and disciplinary silos hinder the integration of sustainability knowledge into the formal school curriculum. Therefore, if universities want to produce more students with sustainability knowledge, then they need to focus on building more sustainable systems.
