    A definitive part of my individuality is my level of intelligence. I have always been encouraged and pushed to challenge my intellect through various opportunities in my community. Although my efforts, whether academic or artistic, have had both beneficial and detrimental results in my life, I have been able to derive the greatest esteem from my engagement in voluntary civic service. As part of the academically rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program, as part of eligibility for degree status, applicants must submit 200 CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) hours completing tasks that meet the criteria for each category . At first, I viewed the task as a stereotypical student with disdain and contempt for seemingly intimidating tasks. However, I never expected to gain true insight and respect through my service experiences. It is more accurate to explain that community service demanded and produced a higher level of intelligence than I sought to achieve. For me, serving my community has become an engaging source of refuge....
