Huebner, DM, Rebchook, GM, & Kegeles, SM (2004). Experiences of harassment, discrimination, and physical violence among young gay and bisexual men. American Journal Of Public Health, 94(7), 1200-1203. This article presents research on harassment and discrimination against gay youth associated with their mental health. In the article, first, the authors record over six months how gay men in different cities experience harassment, discrimination, and physical violence. Second, the article paints a picture showing that harassment, discrimination, and victimization create a lot of stress in their lives. The author compares and contrasts the correlation between self-esteem and suicidal ideation with verbal harassment, discrimination, and physical violence. Finally, the article states that our society should implement a policy to protect gay rights and provide a safe social environment for men. The article helps me write an interesting and engaging introduction about my third solution. My third solution is the “Safe School Anti-Violence Documentary Project” which recorded a wonderful event on anti-gay harassment and violence. When I place the research for this article at the beginning, readers will think about it more carefully and in more detail. Furthermore, this article helps me demonstrate that harassment and discrimination harm homosexuals, dealing a fatal blow to their self-esteem. This also sheds light on my criticisms about the weakness of the third solution, it is not enough to simply record the events. The organization should do more to provide safe social environments, not just in the book. The authors worked for the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies which is part of AIDS research...... middle of article ......off work at Elizabethtown College. This article is published in the credible journal Sociological Viewpoints. Henning-Stout, M., James, S. and Macintosh, S. (2000). Reduce harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people in schools. School Psychology Review, 29(2), 180. This article concerns three modeling projects on anti-discrimination of homosexual students. The three projects are: Project 10, the International Foundation for Gender Education, and the Safe Schools Coalition of Washington (the organization I researched). These three projects were deeply discussed in detail. This shows why the programs are meaningful and useful. The article also lists the success factors of programs: clear ideas, correct objectives, specific steps. In conclusion, the article states that everyone has a responsibility to reduce harassment and discrimination..
