Xavier Becerra was born on January 26, 1958 in Sacramento, California. He is the son of working-class immigrants they immigrated to. Becerra is one of 4 children, he has three sisters. He was the first to graduate from college, it wasn't easy for him but he never gave up and he achieved his dreams. Becerra's mother was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and she immigrated to the United States a few months later after marrying Becerra's father. Becerra is married to Dr. Carolina Reyes and has three children. He is a graduate of CK McClatchy High School located in downtown Sacramento and Stanford University, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1984 from Stanford Law School. Before graduating from Stanford University, he attended the University of Salamanca, located in Salamanca, Spain. Xavier worked as an attorney at Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts before returning to California in 1986.
