Essay / Emperor - 1324
In the middle of the Warring States period in China, a man sought to end the fighting. Chin Shi Huangdi started as king of the State of Qin, but his harsh and bloody actions led to the unification of China. This is just one of the reasons he is remembered throughout time. Although Chin Shi Huangdi has long been dead, many still speculate about his special character and his great achievements such as the Great Wall and the unification of China. For this reason, his character is immersed in films and stories, each with a different interpretation of Chin Shi Huangdi. There are four particular literary and cinematic works that really focus on Emperor Qin, namely Hero, The First Emperor of China, Kingdom, and Bridge of Birds. Some of these literary and cinematic works are similar in the way they present the emperor, while others are completely distinct in their depiction. One of the most famous depictions of the first emperor can be found in the film Hero. The movie Hero is special because it shows the emperor as a calm and almost kind man. This differs from the man depicted in The First Emperor of China, The Kingdom and The Birds' Bridge. In the film, when Nameless tells lies to the Emperor, the Emperor does not kill him instantly. By then, the Emperor knew that Nameless intended to kill him, and he sat calmly arguing with Nameless about what he thought had happened. In the documentary The First Emperor of China, the emperor is anything but calm. He discovered that his mother had slept with one of his advisors, creating two illegitimate children whom the advisor planned to make emperor. While the advisor launches an attack on the castle, the emperor orders that the two children be killed...... middle of paper ......ied in China. Today, the Chinese people retain this ideal of unification put forward by the emperor. Although his success in bringing China closer was short-lived, China became one again, as he always wanted. Since the emperor is associated with a variety of things, apathy, immortality, unity, strength, it is not surprising that there is such a contrast. in the way it is represented. He is a very interesting man because of his madness but also because of his ability to run the government and bring people together. Most rulers are seen as either benevolent or evil, but Emperor Qin had it both ways. He sought to protect his people while continually oppressing them. Over time, his legend will continue to be passed down. His image may change over time, but no matter how the future treats his image, he will always be known as the first emperor of China..
