Essay / Seconds Away by Harlan Coben - 1035
The main character in the book I read is Mickey Bolitar. He has blue eyes, short brown hair, is six feet four inches tall, and weighs a little over two hundred pounds. He behaves like a normal high school student and can be very curious at times. When he was curious about the things in the book, he usually got into trouble with the police or his uncle. Like when he was in "Bat Lady's" house, he entered without even knocking on the door and when he was inside, the house caught fire and burned down. The police came and arrested him for breaking and entering. That time, when he was curious, he got into trouble with the police, not his uncle. His personality is curious, protective, strong-willed, friendly and kind. He was once very protective of his friend Ema when some of the bad guys at school would say "Hey ema mooo!" When he heard he was about to explode, Ema gave him a look that told him not to. He interacts well with other characters except people he doesn't like and mean people. Mickey was my favorite character in the book. The main idea of this book is that we are all stronger than we think. It was developed throughout the book each time Mickey and his friends got into trouble with some really mean people, but got out of it and moved on. Like when they were inside their school on a Friday night after everyone had left. It was around 9:00 p.m. and they were searching a suspicious locker. They had found drugs and a lot of money in the locker, when they all looked at each other and said, "What should we do?" Then two very big guys with guns appeared behind them and said, “Give it to us.” So right away Ema walked into a classroom and called the police and Mickey used her trace...... middle of paper ...... onological order. I think the author wrote the book that way because it was a murder. mystery. I think the events were written perfectly in chronological order. Also, the main idea about solving a murder was good, but it was even better because it added mini-adventures that kept the story interesting. The author made the characters relatable to someone my age. The way he went into detail about the main story and the way he let all the characters have a little spotlight at some point in the story allowed you to get to know each character and d 'feel like you know them. It helped you understand the friendship between Mickey and his friends. Mickey felt protective because they were all so close, which helps you understand why he was willing to do so much to protect them. These are the reasons why I think Harley Coben did it the way he did..
